Since the 1990’s, St-Henri has been experiencing a sort of rebirth. What were rundown industrial buildings are now trendy hot spots for artisans and communication, graphic design and IT specialists, architects, production houses and all kinds of small businesses.

The old Dominion Textile building itself was restored in 1999 - around the same time as the Corona Theatre on Notre-Dame (near Atwater).

Even the Lachine Canal is enjoying some of its former glory. It was reopened to pleasure boats in 2002, which in turn has given the local economy a big boost. The population is also undergoing great change as more and more rofessionals make these renovated buildings home.

It’s all had an incredible effect on the commercial streets of St-Henri where new stores and restaurants are popping up all the time. The Atwater Market has doubled its activity.
